Whoever gives the strength has the right to say what it is for. Healing and command arrive together: Christ asks no step He has not already made possible, and the commandment comes as the gift itself, handed over as an instruction.

Obedience can run ahead of understanding. Unable yet to name the one who healed him, the man still trusted that word above the men questioning him. Faith often starts there, in gratitude for a mercy received before it can be explained, and it grows into knowing the Healer Himself when Christ comes looking for him later.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

The same presence that makes you whole is the presence that says, now rise and walk. These are not two things. When you are restored to the aliveness of this moment, you do not sit and analyze it. The wholeness naturally becomes movement, becomes life flowing through you again.

Take up thy bed means do not leave your old suffering lying there to return to, and do not drag it behind you as a burden. Carry it lightly, as something finished. The same awareness that heals you is the awareness that lives through you, and it always moves toward life.

Live John 5:11 today

  1. Take the one small step you already know is yours today, the walk, the glass of water, the ten minutes of the thing you dread, without waiting to feel ready or to understand why it helps.
  2. When someone who helped you asks something of you, say yes first and sort out your questions while you are already moving. Gratitude moves faster than explanation.
  3. If people press you to justify a good change you are making and you cannot explain it well, just say it helped and keep going. You do not owe an argument for being better.

What do you already know to do today that you are waiting to understand first?

Zen

Students are told to practice before they understand why, because the understanding arrives through the doing and not before it. Clarity is downstream of the first step.

Bhagavad Gita 2

Arjuna is told to stand up and act in the place where he has been set, even though he cannot see how it ends. Acting faithfully in the fog is the teaching.

Stoicism · Epictetus

He taught that philosophy is worthless until it shows up in what you actually do. The proof is in the walking, not the explaining.
