Luke 11:3 Meaning Give Us Day by Day Our Daily

Give us day by day our daily bread.

What does Luke 11:3 mean?

The mind that asks for this is learning to trust that it is provided for now, in this instant, and need not hoard against a future it has imagined as scarce. Fear stockpiles because it believes the source of good is limited and may run out.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The mind that asks for this is learning to trust that it is provided for now, in this instant, and need not hoard against a future it has imagined as scarce. Fear stockpiles because it believes the source of good is limited and may run out. Love gives freshly each moment, and the asking is really a willingness to receive what is always being offered.

To want only today's portion is to release the anxious grip on tomorrow. A mind at peace does not need to store up defenses against lack, for it rests in a Source that has never once withheld itself. What sustains it is not something it must secure but something it need only stop refusing.

Bread: the sustenance of the mind, the steady supply of love and truth that its Source gives freely in each present moment.

Live Luke 11:3 today

  1. Eat one meal today without a screen, and let it be enough for right now rather than a gap between tasks.
  2. Tell someone close what you are worried about running out of, money, time, energy. Said out loud to a friend, scarcity usually loses some of its grip.
  3. When the mind starts stacking up next month's problems during the commute or in bed, bring it back to the question of what today actually asked of you, and let tomorrow stay tomorrow.

What am I storing up against a future that has not asked me for anything yet?
