Luke 7:45 Meaning You Gave Me No Kiss

You gave me no kiss, but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet.

What does Luke 7:45 mean?

Two welcomes stand side by side, and they measure not courtesy but the presence or absence of love as the mind's chosen teacher. The withheld greeting belongs to a mind still guarding itself, still keeping the distance that judgment requires.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

Two welcomes stand side by side, and they measure not courtesy but the presence or absence of love as the mind's chosen teacher. The withheld greeting belongs to a mind still guarding itself, still keeping the distance that judgment requires. The unceasing tenderness belongs to a mind that has laid its defenses down and cannot stop giving, because a heart released from guilt has no reason left to hold back.

The difference is never in the deed but in which teacher moves the hand. One mind offered nothing because it had appointed itself judge; the other offered everything because it had accepted that it was forgiven.

Kiss: the open gesture of welcome that flows from love, given without ceasing by a mind that has nothing left to defend. Feet: the humble place a released mind chooses freely, where it rests in the love it once believed shut out.

Live Luke 7:45 today

  1. Send the message you have been drafting in your head for a week. Not the perfect version, the warm one.
  2. When you get home tonight, greet whoever is there before you set down your bag or check your phone. That three second gap is where most of the distance lives.
  3. When you feel yourself going cool and polite with someone because you are annoyed, say one genuinely kind thing anyway. The distance is a choice, and you can unmake it.

Where am I being correct with someone when I could be warm?

The highest goodness is like water, giving itself to everything without choosing who deserves it. It does not wait to be greeted first.

Buddhism · metta practice

Goodwill is trained by extending it, first to those you love, then to strangers, then to the ones you resist. The holding back is the thing being undone.

You can be kind without needing it returned. The warmth is yours to give, not a trade.
