Mark 6:7 Meaning He Called to Himself the Twelve

He called to himself the twelve, and began to send them out two by two; and he gave them authority over the unclean spirits.

What does Mark 6:7 mean?

The mind that would carry correction is never sent alone, for truth is remembered through relationship and not in isolation, and two who join in a single purpose become the undoing of the belief that anyone is separate. To be sent by twos is to learn that healing moves between minds joined, that no one awakens by standing apart.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The mind that would carry correction is never sent alone, for truth is remembered through relationship and not in isolation, and two who join in a single purpose become the undoing of the belief that anyone is separate. To be sent by twos is to learn that healing moves between minds joined, that no one awakens by standing apart. The power given is nothing the body owns; it is only the strength to look upon the figures of fear and see them for the illusions they are, and so dissolve them.

Authority over what torments is not a force that fights the darkness but a light that reveals there was never anything there to fight. What is given is simply the willingness to see, and in that seeing the shadows lose the reality the mind once lent them.

The twelve: the parts of a single mind gathered and made ready to carry correction, the many aspects of the one purpose. Unclean spirits: the thoughts of fear and guilt that seem to possess a mind, the figures of the ego that vanish when looked upon truly.

  1. Name the fear you have been carrying alone, out loud or on paper, in plain words. Said plainly, most of them shrink.
  2. Tell one person the thing you have been handling by yourself, not to be fixed, just so it is not only yours anymore. Pick whoever would not flinch.
  3. Before a hard conversation or a tense day, text one friend so someone knows you are walking into it. Doing it with company and doing it alone are not the same thing.

What am I insisting on carrying alone, and who would gladly carry half?

Good company is not a nice extra on the path, it is most of the path. Alone, we mostly rehearse our own mind back to ourselves.

Find yourself a teacher and get yourself a friend, because understanding comes alive between people. What stays sealed inside one head tends to stay small.
