Matthew 22:30 Meaning For in the Resurrection They Neither Marry

For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like God’s angels in heaven.

What does Matthew 22:30 mean?

When the mind awakens, the arrangements it made to complete itself through another simply fall away, not because love is lost but because lack is. Marriage here stands for the search that seeks in one body what only wholeness can give, and in the awakened state that search has nothing left to do, for nothing is missing.

When the mind awakens, the arrangements it made to complete itself through another simply fall away, not because love is lost but because lack is. Marriage here stands for the search that seeks in one body what only wholeness can give, and in the awakened state that search has nothing left to do, for nothing is missing.

To be as the angels is to be a mind that gives without needing to receive, whole in itself and therefore able to love without grasping. The awakening does not empty the heart; it ends the hunger that made love feel like a transaction.

Marriage: the mind's attempt to complete itself through another, born of a sense of lack. Angels: minds awake and whole, loving out of fullness rather than need.

In the risen state of consciousness, the pairing and joining that belong to the flesh-bound life fall away. Marriage is the union of the divided halves at the level of the body, the reaching of one incomplete part toward another, and it belongs to the world of separation where a being feels itself a fragment seeking its match. When awareness rises into its whole and illumined condition, that hunger for outer union ends, because the self is no longer split.

The angels of God are the pure energies of the higher realm, the undivided powers that need no counterpart. A person come into that state is complete within, and so the old drive to marry the missing half has nothing left to seek.

The lover who still has conditions is bargaining, not loving. When the hunger goes quiet, what is left is love with nothing in it for you.
