Matthew 24:27 Meaning For as the Lightning Flashes From

The coming of the Son of man is an awakening within, not an event watched in the sky. Lightning flashing from east to west across the heavens is that awakening breaking across a person's own head, sudden, entire, and lit from within. No outer sign is given to wait for. Christ is the human imagination itself, and its coming is the moment a person wakes to his own I-am-ness as the one power over his world.

The flash cannot be earned or scheduled. It comes unbidden and all at once, and every structure of belief a person built from what others taught him collapses in its light. The mental buildings must fall for the individual to stand. This is not the end of a world outside but the end of borrowed ideas inside, when a person recognizes himself as the power he had been looking for elsewhere.

The lightning is the sudden flash of higher awareness that crosses the whole inner sky at once, not a slow dawn a person can prepare for but an instant illumination that arrives complete. East is the place of rising, the origin of light in the body's own geography, and west is the place of setting, so the flash runs the entire span of consciousness from source to spending. That same awakened awareness appears in a person, and its coming cannot be plotted or timed. It happens all at once, the inner heaven lit end to end, and afterward nothing in the mind sits where it did before.
