Psychoanalysis

Sight given to the blind releases an energy the everyday mind cannot hold back once it reaches full awareness. The two men, told to stay silent, carry what the drive toward wholeness forces into the open. A real meeting with the deep center that makes you whole cannot be kept private by an act of will, no more than you can silence a tune that will not leave your head.

Once the image of God breaks into awareness, it moves on its own, spreading through the community it touches like a deep current rising from below. Their spreading it across all that land is not disobedience. It is the natural overflow of a life-changing event, that wholeness announcing itself through the men whose inner blindness has just been healed.

Live Matthew 9:31 today

  1. Pay attention to what you cannot stop thinking about today, the thing that keeps surfacing in traffic and in the shower. That insistence is information. Write down what it is.
  2. Let yourself be obvious with one person. If something is lighting you up, let your face and your voice say so instead of managing it down to a reasonable size.
  3. When you are worn out at the end of a hard day and something genuinely good still leaks out of you, kindness to a stranger in a grocery line, do not explain it away as a mood. That is what you are actually made of.

What keeps rising in me no matter how often I push it back down?
