Proverbs 12:4 Meaning A Worthy Woman Is the Crown

A worthy woman is the crown of her husband, but a disgraceful wife is as rottenness in his bones.

What does Proverbs 12:4 mean?

Within one mind two movements are always at work, and each shapes the whole. When the receptive, feeling part of the mind is joined to love, it lifts the whole self like a crown, adorning the awakened teacher within with the grace of a mind at peace with itself.

Christian Psychology

Within one mind two movements are always at work, and each shapes the whole. When the receptive, feeling part of the mind is joined to love, it lifts the whole self like a crown, adorning the awakened teacher within with the grace of a mind at peace with itself.

But when that same part turns toward guilt, it eats inward like decay, weakening the very strength it was meant to honor. Shame is not a wound that comes from outside; it works quietly in the bones, in the hidden foundation of the self, until the mind feels rotted through by a guilt it will not look at. The healing is to let the inner union be one of love, so the two move together toward peace instead of against it.

Virtuous woman: the receptive, feeling part of the mind joined to love, which crowns the whole self with the grace of peace Husband: the part of the mind that has learned to stand in strength, the awakened teacher within that the inner life either honors or undermines Bones: the hidden foundation of the self, the inner structure where guilt works unseen until it feels the whole mind decayed

  1. Name the thing you feel quietly bad about, the one you keep stepping around. Just say it to yourself honestly, without the case for the defense or the prosecution.
  2. Tell one person you trust something you have been embarrassed about. Watch how it shrinks the moment it is said out loud to a face that does not flinch.
  3. When a comment at dinner or in a thread lands on the sore spot, pause before you snap. The sting is old, the person in front of you is not the one who put it there.

What have I been carrying in private that would weigh almost nothing if I said it out loud?

The soft and the firm are not rivals, they are two halves of one motion. When they turn together everything holds, and when they fight each other everything wobbles.
