Proverbs 25:7 Meaning For It Is Better That It Be

for it is better that it be said to you, “Come up here,” than that you should be put lower in the presence of the prince, whom your eyes have seen.

What does Proverbs 25:7 mean?

A mind that lifts itself will feel itself lowered, because every height the ego claims is measured against others and can be taken away. To be called upward, by contrast, is to be raised by love without having grasped at anything, and what love gives cannot be reversed by comparison.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

A mind that lifts itself will feel itself lowered, because every height the ego claims is measured against others and can be taken away. To be called upward, by contrast, is to be raised by love without having grasped at anything, and what love gives cannot be reversed by comparison. The one who has already seen the prince has already looked upon the presence that judges worth, and before it the whole game of ranking oneself falls away.

A mind at peace does not seat itself. It waits, and finds it was welcome all along.

Prince: the loving authority already present to the mind's sight, before whom self-exaltation and its reversal both dissolve.

  1. When you open your phone and your first move is to check how a post of yours did, set the phone down for a minute. You were already fine before the number loaded.
  2. In a meeting or at dinner, let someone else go first, and listen without lining up your own point to prove. See what it feels like to be present without ranking yourself in the room.
  3. When you get passed over, left off an email thread, or not asked for your opinion, let it sit without correcting the record. Nothing was taken from you that was actually yours.

Where am I still waiting for someone to confirm a worth I already have?
