Proverbs 7:19 · World English Bible
For my husband isn’t at home. He has gone on a long journey.
The whole seduction rests on one claim, that the master of the house is away. The ego can only make its offer where it believes the voice of love has gone silent, and so it insists the true teacher is absent, gone on some long journey, unable to see or to answer.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
The whole seduction rests on one claim, that the master of the house is away. The ego can only make its offer where it believes the voice of love has gone silent, and so it insists the true teacher is absent, gone on some long journey, unable to see or to answer. This is temptation's necessary lie, for it cannot proceed while the mind knows love is present.
But the awakened self within is never truly gone. It only seems absent to a mind that has looked away from it. A mind that hears the ego reassure it that no one is home can remember that the teacher of love has not journeyed anywhere, and the house was never empty at all.
Goodman: the awakened teacher within the mind, the true master of the house whom the ego claims is absent so it may speak unopposed Journey: the seeming absence of love, the illusion that the true self has gone far off, which temptation needs in order to proceed

Where today have I acted as though the best part of me had stepped out?
What you are looking for has never once left you. The search itself is the only distance, and it dissolves the moment you stop running.
The self you are hunting for sits closer than your own breath, the witness inside every thought. It did not go anywhere, you simply turned your attention outward.
A person spends the day searching for the ox they are already riding. The looking is what makes it seem absent.
