Proverbs 8:23 Meaning I Was Set Up From Everlasting

I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth existed.

What does Proverbs 8:23 mean?

There is something in a mind that was never made and therefore cannot be unmade, a knowing of love that stands before the whole story of separation ever seemed to begin. The ego insists that the self is a late arrival, born into a world of bodies and dangers, and so it must scramble to defend a thing that time could end.

Christian Psychology

There is something in a mind that was never made and therefore cannot be unmade, a knowing of love that stands before the whole story of separation ever seemed to begin. The ego insists that the self is a late arrival, born into a world of bodies and dangers, and so it must scramble to defend a thing that time could end. But what speaks here was established before that dream of exile was dreamed, and it waits, changeless, beneath the noise.

The world with its threats came afterward and rests on nothing; the peace within was there first and rests on God. To remember this is the whole shift: a mind stops treating fear as its origin and lets love, which came before all fear, teach it who it has always been.

The earth: the world of separation the ego made, the seeming stage of bodies and time that pretends to be the beginning of the self but arrived long after the truth was already whole.

Live Proverbs 8:23 today

  1. Tonight, as the day's worries replay in your head, name one of them out loud and add: this started at some point, and I did not. Let it have a start date instead of being the whole truth about you.
  2. In a group chat or at family dinner, let one jab pass without defending yourself. You are not the thing they just described, so there is nothing urgent to protect.
  3. Under real pressure at work, put both feet on the floor and feel the part of you that is watching the pressure. The watcher came first and is not in danger.

If my fear has a beginning and I do not, what does that change about today?

What is originally whole was never manufactured, so no practice creates it and no failure destroys it. Sitting still is not building peace, it is uncovering it.

Advaita Vedanta · Ashtavakra Gita

You are not the body that was born and can die, but the awareness in which birth and death appear as passing scenery. Fear belongs to the scenery.

Tao Te Ching 28

Return to the uncarved block, which holds every shape and has lost nothing by remaining plain. What was never carved cannot be broken.
