Revelation 1:7 · World English Bible

Revelation 1:7 Meaning Behold

Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, including those who pierced him. All the tribes of the earth will mourn over him. Even so, Amen.

What does Revelation 1:7 mean?

The coming of the higher self is an inward dawning, not a figure in the sky, and the clouds are the veiling states of mind through which awareness breaks as it rises. Every eye that sees is each faculty turned at last toward the light, and those who pierced him are the lower drives that crucified spirit in the descent into flesh, now forced to behold what they wounded.

Esoteric

The coming of the higher self is an inward dawning, not a figure in the sky, and the clouds are the veiling states of mind through which awareness breaks as it rises. Every eye that sees is each faculty turned at last toward the light, and those who pierced him are the lower drives that crucified spirit in the descent into flesh, now forced to behold what they wounded. The earthly appetites wail as their rule ends. What comes in a person is the awakened self rising until nothing within can fail to see it.

Clouds: the veiling states of mind through which rising awareness breaks. Every eye: each inner faculty turned toward the light. They which pierced him: the lower drives that crucified spirit in the descent into flesh. Kindreds of the earth: the bodily appetites that mourn as their rule ends.

Live Revelation 1:7 today

  1. When your mood clouds over today, sit with it for two minutes without reaching for your phone. Let the heaviness move across you and see that something in you is watching it pass.
  2. Tell one person something honest that you would normally cover: that you are tired, that you were wrong, that you were hurt. The covering is heavier than the thing.
  3. When you catch yourself snapping or going cold under pressure, pause and admit it to yourself straight out, no excuse attached. Being seen by your own eyes is the whole turn.

What in you have you been hoping not to look at directly?

Zen

Clouds pass and the sky was never touched by them. What you are looking for is not behind the weather, it is the thing the weather moves through.

Plato · the Republic

The prisoner dragged out of the cave is pained by the light at first and wants to turn back. The hurt is the eye adjusting, not proof that the light is wrong.

Tao Te Ching

The muddy water clears when it is left alone. Stop stirring, and what was always there becomes visible.
