Revelation 14:8 Meaning Another

Another, a second angel, followed, saying, “Babylon the great has fallen, which has made all the nations to drink of the wine of the wrath of her sexual immorality.”

What does Revelation 14:8 mean?

The fall doubled and repeated is the collapse of the carnal, emotional mind, that whole lower system of scattered worldly feeling breaking apart as awareness climbs. Babylon rules from below, and every faculty in a person has drunk from her, made drunk on outer things until sober control is lost.

Esoteric

The fall doubled and repeated is the collapse of the carnal, emotional mind, that whole lower system of scattered worldly feeling breaking apart as awareness climbs. Babylon rules from below, and every faculty in a person has drunk from her, made drunk on outer things until sober control is lost. This is the reeling that comes of pouring pure inner energy into the appetites rather than lifting it inward, mistaking mixture for love and confusion for life.

What the tradition calls the wine of the spirit turns bitter here in its opposite, the intoxication of a mind that mistook the outer for the real. When the lower center finally gives way, the drunkenness ends and a clearer seeing takes its place inside the same person.

Babylon: the fallen carnal and emotional mind, the lower system of worldly feeling that governs a person until awareness rises and it collapses Wine: here the intoxication with outer things, the loss of sober inner control, the inversion of the spirit that should have been drunk instead Fornication: the misdirection that pours pure inner energy sideways into the lower appetites rather than raising it through the fornix within

Live Revelation 14:8 today

  1. Watch yourself reach for your phone out of habit today, and once, just once, set it down instead. Feel the restlessness underneath. That feeling is the thing you have been drinking to avoid.
  2. When a conversation turns into comparing what people have, bought or achieved, stay kind but do not join. Ask them something real instead and watch the room change.
  3. Under stress, when you want the fix, the scroll, the snack, the online cart, pause for sixty seconds first. Often the craving thins out on its own and you get your clarity back cheap.

What have I been drinking to keep from feeling what is actually here?

Buddhism

Craving for outer things is a thirst that drinking never ends. Each satisfaction is brief and the thirst returns stronger, and seeing that clearly is the beginning of the end of it.

Tao Te Ching 12

Too much color blinds the eye, too much sound deafens the ear, too much chasing leaves the heart restless. The senses overfed stop working.

Stoicism · Seneca

We are drunk on the things we have gathered and call that living. Sobriety arrives when a person finally sees what the hoard was never able to give them.
