What does Revelation 2:8 mean?

The generative center of the body is addressed here as a stage of consciousness, Smyrna standing for the sexual region low in the temple of the flesh. The one who speaks is the first and the last, the awareness that was dead in this center and comes alive in it, the lower nature that dies as raw appetite and rises transformed.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

The generative center of the body is addressed here as a stage of consciousness, Smyrna standing for the sexual region low in the temple of the flesh. The one who speaks is the first and the last, the awareness that was dead in this center and comes alive in it, the lower nature that dies as raw appetite and rises transformed. To speak to this place at all is to treat the base of the body as a rung on the ladder that climbs from the spine to the head, a real station of the inner life and not a thing to be despised.

What was dead and is alive names what happens in that center when it stops running only as generation and begins to carry consciousness upward.

Smyrna: the sexual, generative center of the body, the low station addressed as a stage of consciousness

AWARENESS

Indian Guru

Only one who has already died can say anything worth hearing about death. Not the death of the body, which is merely a change of houses, but the disappearance of the one who was managing everything, the small center that calls itself the doer. When that goes, something remains, and that something was never born.

First and last are one thing, what stands outside time, present before the mind began its counting and present after the counting stops. To those about to lose everything, the words come from someone who lost it all and found what remained untouched.

Live Revelation 2:8 today

  1. When a craving shows up today, hunger, restlessness, the pull to scroll or to look, pause for one breath before you act on it and feel where it actually sits in your body. You are not scolding it, you are just letting it be felt instead of obeyed.
  2. With someone you are attracted to, or someone you simply want something from, let yourself feel the pull and still treat them as a whole person. Ask them a real question and listen to the answer.
  3. In a tense moment, a hard meeting, traffic, a message that stings, your body will want to grab or flee. Keep your feet on the floor, let the heat rise and pass, and answer a few seconds later than the urge wants.

What in me have I been calling shameful, when it might be the exact place my life is trying to come alive?

Tao Te Ching

The root is not beneath the plant by accident. What rises high draws its strength from what sits low, so the base is honored, not escaped.

Tantric Hinduism · Kundalini

The energy coiled at the base of the spine is the same energy that lights the crown. It is not a lower thing to be killed off, it is a current to be awakened and carried up.

Zen

The body you sit with is the only body that wakes up. Appetite is not the enemy of practice, it is the material practice works on.
