Revelation 20:5 · World English Bible
The rest of the dead didn’t live until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
The dead are the sleeping faculties in a person, the parts of the being that have never woken to the light within and lie inert in the flesh. The first resurrection is the initial rising of consciousness, the first waking of the awareness that had lain buried, and it lifts only those parts ready to stand.

ESOTERIC
The dead are the sleeping faculties in a person, the parts of the being that have never woken to the light within and lie inert in the flesh. The first resurrection is the initial rising of consciousness, the first waking of the awareness that had lain buried, and it lifts only those parts ready to stand. The rest do not live again until the thousand years are finished, because a full inward maturing must complete its cycle before the whole nature can rise. The thousand years are that long ripening measured within, a completeness of growth rather than a count of calendar time. The being wakes in stages, and the remainder of the self waits underground until the appointed fullness has run its course.
The dead: the sleeping, unawakened faculties of a person that lie inert in the flesh, never yet risen to the light The thousand years: a full inward cycle of ripening, a completeness of growth measured within rather than a span of calendar time
Esoteric lens
What in you is awake now, and what are you willing to let ripen slowly?
Awakening comes in stages, and the teachers warn against mistaking the first opening for the whole journey. Something real wakes, and much of you is still asleep.
He tells of the farmer who pulled at his young grain to help it grow and killed the whole field. Ripening has its own length and cannot be hurried by wanting it sooner.
You are not required to finish the work, but you are not free to walk away from it. Growth is a long season you stay inside of, not a thing you complete today.
