Revelation 21:10 Meaning He Carried Me Away in the Spirit

He carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,

What does Revelation 21:10 mean?

Being carried in the spirit to the high mountain is the lifting of awareness to the crown of the head, the summit of consciousness from which the whole inner order can be seen. The great city, the holy Jerusalem, is the finished state of the awakened self, the foundation of peace laid out complete, every faculty of the person arranged as one shining structure.

Esoteric

Being carried in the spirit to the high mountain is the lifting of awareness to the crown of the head, the summit of consciousness from which the whole inner order can be seen. The great city, the holy Jerusalem, is the finished state of the awakened self, the foundation of peace laid out complete, every faculty of the person arranged as one shining structure.

It descends out of heaven because this ordered wholeness is not built up from the lower flesh but comes down from the higher center of light within, settling into the being from above. What sounds like a vision of a city in the sky is the perfected condition of a person seen from the height of the mind, the inner life brought into full peaceful order and lowered into place from the spirit at the center.

High mountain: the crown of the head, the summit of consciousness from which the whole inner order is seen Holy Jerusalem: the perfected state of the awakened self, the foundation of peace with every faculty set in shining order Heaven: the higher center of light within a person, the source from which the ordered wholeness descends

Live Revelation 21:10 today

  1. Before you touch your phone in the morning, sit up and take five slow breaths with your attention at the top of your head. Let the day arrange itself from that calm first, instead of from the first notification.
  2. The next time your family or a group chat is tangled in something, do not jump in at the level of the argument. Step back, see the whole shape of what is happening, and say the one sentence that puts things in order.
  3. In traffic or a long line, let the height come to you instead of the irritation. Look at the whole scene, the people, the light, your own hands on the wheel, and let your inner life settle from above rather than from the delay.

When was the last time I saw my life from high enough to see that it is actually in order?

Tao Te Ching 16

Return to stillness and you see how all things move. From that quiet height, everything in your life falls into its own order without being forced.

Zen

A teacher said that before practice the mountains are just mountains, and after practice the mountains are mountains again, but you are standing somewhere else when you look. The view changes because the one looking has risen.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

He told himself to look down on human affairs as if from a great height, and watch how small the noise becomes. The peace he found there was not escape, it was proportion.
