Revelation 22:5 Meaning There Will Be No Night

There will be no night, and they need no lamp light or sun light; for the Lord God will illuminate them. They will reign forever and ever.

What does Revelation 22:5 mean?

There is a state of consciousness in which darkness is no longer possible. Not because you have lit a brighter lamp, but because you no longer depend on anything outside yourself to feel whole.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

There is a state of consciousness in which darkness is no longer possible. Not because you have lit a brighter lamp, but because you no longer depend on anything outside yourself to feel whole. The sun rises and sets, candles burn down, every outer light eventually fails. The light of awareness does not.

When you know yourself as the consciousness in which all experience appears, your peace stops depending on circumstances. This is what it means to reign forever. You are no longer at the mercy of a changing world, because the sense of being alive comes from something within you that time cannot touch.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

In the fully awakened state there is no darkness within, because the light no longer comes from any outside source that can set or be snuffed out. The candle is borrowed knowledge and the sun is the outer intellect, and both become needless when consciousness itself shines from its own center.

To reign forever is the settled condition of the illumined self, awareness established as ruler over the whole being with nothing left in shadow to overthrow it. The inner light is self-sustaining, and where it burns, night simply does not exist.

Night: the inner darkness of unawareness, the state where the light has not yet risen in a person Candle: borrowed, secondhand knowledge that must be lit from outside and can go out Sun: the outer intellect, the reasoning light that rises and sets and is not the self's own Light of the Lord God: the self-sustaining inner radiance that shines from the center of awakened consciousness

SUFISM

Sufism

A day is coming with no darkness in it, where borrowed lights are set down because the Source Himself is the light. Every lamp a person leaned on was only passing along a brightness that began elsewhere, the way the moon merely hands on the sun.

The heart's fault is loving its small lamps, its reputation and cleverness, as if they were its own fire. The cure is to hold them lightly now. Those who lean on the true Light rather than their own glow are the ones who will reign, and never end.

Live Revelation 22:5 today

  1. Watch one piece of good news and one piece of bad news today without letting either decide how you feel for the next hour. See if you can stay the same person through both.
  2. If someone's mood pulls at you, a short reply in the group chat, a cold tone at dinner, stay warm anyway. Your steadiness does not have to come from theirs.
  3. When plans fall apart, catch the moment your peace tries to hang itself on the outcome. Let it hang on something closer in instead, the simple fact that you are awake and here.

How much of your calm today was borrowed from things going your way?

Some things are up to us and some are not. Place your peace entirely in what is yours and no event can reach it.
