Revelation 4:11 Meaning Worthy Are You

“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, the Holy One, to receive the glory, the honor, and the power, for you created all things, and because of your desire they existed, and were created!”

What does Revelation 4:11 mean?

Every made thing is here answered back to its Maker, praise returning to the one it came from like a stream flowing home to the sea. The heart's quiet theft is to keep the honor for itself, to stand admiring its own reflection as if the glass had made the face.

Every made thing is here answered back to its Maker, praise returning to the one it came from like a stream flowing home to the sea. The heart's quiet theft is to keep the honor for itself, to stand admiring its own reflection as if the glass had made the face.

The cure is to hand the credit back where it belongs, plainly and often. All things exist because He wanted them to; the wanting is the light, and each creature is only a place where that longing became visible.

Live Revelation 4:11 today

  1. When something you made lands well today, say the plain sentence to yourself: this came through me, it did not start with me. It costs nothing and it keeps the mirror from becoming the face.
  2. The next time you are thanked for something, name the person who actually made it possible, by name, in front of whoever is listening. Not as modesty, just accurate bookkeeping.
  3. In a meeting where credit is being handed out and some of it is yours, resist the quiet pull to let a flattering mistake stand. One short correction is cheaper than a week of holding up a version of yourself.

Whose light have you been quietly billing as your own?

Bhagavad Gita 2

Do the work that is yours and let go of your grip on the results. The doing is yours to offer, the harvest was never your property.

Tao Te Ching 34

The way gives life to everything and claims none of it as an achievement. Because it takes no credit, nothing it makes is diminished by being given away.

Stoicism · Epictetus

Nothing you hold is owned, only lent, your body, your talents, the people you love. Treat them as a traveler treats a borrowed room, with care and without the fiction of possession.
