Revelation 4:9 Meaning When the Living Creatures Give Glory

When the living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to him who sits on the throne, to him who lives forever and ever,

What does Revelation 4:9 mean?

The living creatures rendering honor to the one on the throne are the fixed powers of the self bowing toward the seat of higher human consciousness within a person, for the throne is that elevated awareness that does not die but continues on. These beasts are the great signs of the zodiac carried inside a man, the self read as a small model of the whole heaven, and their glory-giving is the ordered nature turning its whole attention upward to the ruling center.

What lives for ever and ever is not a distant deity but the enduring higher mind seated at the core of a person.

The scene is the interior cosmos paying tribute to its own summit. The animal forces and the star-signs within align themselves toward the one seat that governs them, which is a man's own raised awareness. The meaning is plain: the deepest parts of a person naturally orient toward the higher consciousness that rules from within.

Live Revelation 4:9 today

  1. When hunger, boredom or the pull to scroll shows up today, do not scold it. Just let your deeper attention be the one that decides what happens next.
  2. In a disagreement today, let your strongest feeling report to you instead of speaking for you. Hear it fully, then choose what actually gets said.
  3. When pressure hits and every instinct is shouting a different instruction, pause long enough for the quieter voice underneath to be heard. It is the one that has your whole life in view.

Which of your appetites has been giving the orders lately?

Hinduism · Katha Upanishad

The body is a chariot, the senses the horses, the mind the reins, and the Self the rider. The horses are not the problem; they run well once they answer to the one who should be holding the reins.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

Marcus writes that the ruling faculty should govern the impulses of the body as a commander governs his troops, not by crushing them but by keeping them ordered toward one purpose.

Taoism · Chuang Tzu

Chuang Tzu's cook cuts the ox without force because his whole body has learned to follow something deeper than effort. Every part of him moves in one direction without being argued into it.
