Song of Solomon 3:5 Meaning I Adjure You

I adjure you, daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, or by the hinds of the field, that you not stir up nor awaken love, until it so desires.

What does Song of Solomon 3:5 mean?

The union of the higher and lower natures inside a person cannot be forced by the will; it ripens in its own hour and answers to nothing that hurries it. The charge laid on the daughters is the counsel of the inner powers to leave the sacred coupling undisturbed until it rises of itself.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

The union of the higher and lower natures inside a person cannot be forced by the will; it ripens in its own hour and answers to nothing that hurries it. The charge laid on the daughters is the counsel of the inner powers to leave the sacred coupling undisturbed until it rises of itself. The roes and hinds are the swift, shy movements of the body's finer energy, creatures easily startled, and they stand as the very witnesses to this patience because they too flee anything that grasps. What is drawn out too soon is broken; the marriage of spirit and flesh keeps its own timing, and the being waits on that timing rather than on desire.

Daughters of Jerusalem: the many outward faculties and thoughts belonging to the city of peace, the ordered mind Roes and hinds of the field: the swift, easily startled energies of the body that flee anything that grasps at them Jerusalem: the seat of peace within, the settled inner city where the higher awareness dwells

AWARENESS

Indian Guru

She searched all night and found nothing, then found him the moment the searching stopped. Seeking fills a person so completely that what is sought cannot get in, and only when the search wears itself out does room appear.

Having found, the danger changes shape. The mind now wants to secure what arrived, to repeat the night that worked, to hold the presence by managing it, and this managing is the same hunting moved indoors. Love that came on its own can only stay on its own. Anyone near it can offer stillness, and nothing else is any use to it.

  1. There is probably one thing you keep checking on today, a reply, a result, a number. Leave it alone for a few hours and let it come to you instead.
  2. When someone is working something out and goes quiet mid-sentence, do not finish it for them. Give them the extra few seconds they need.
  3. When you feel the urge to send the message that would force an answer right now, save it as a draft and look at it tonight. Most of the time you will send something kinder, or nothing.

What am I pulling at today that would arrive on its own if I stopped?

The sage does not force. What is grasped at is lost, and what is left to act of itself ripens whole.
